Cuica y Clave Pre-Carnaval SF Carnaval Bash
Pre-Carnaval this year turned out to be lots of fun and plenty of good music. We partied listening to Jorge Alabe's Bateria Friday night at Il Pirata in San Francisco and then went to King Theo's Cuica y Clave #7 Carnaval Bash in Oakland. Both nights were great, but I was able to tape a bit of Roylando Lobato's Cuban Salsa and Maisa Duke's Samba lessons, between trying out the steps. A nice mix of Omolu Capoeira, Hatian Dance with El Wah, Rumbache & DJ...danced the entire time & we even had a soul train line... It was nice to see the Queens together & highlighted for the party. I enjoyed the crowd & the nice pace of the evening. Even King Everett showed up later...very nice to honor past Kings & Queens of SF Carnaval!
Here's a sample of Royland Lobato teaching a Salsa lesson @ the Cuica y Clave pre-Carnaval Party 2008.
